The Bourg Binder BB3102 is an automated perfect binding system aimed at medium-run and short-run production environments. It is ideal for On-Demand Book of One production. The BB3102 combines the proven BB3002 driven at constant maximum speed (400 books/hour) with the Bourg Book Loader (BBL), making it easy to produce a wide variety of bound softcover books, from traditional or digital print streams, with minimal operator intervention.
In less than six minutes, the operator can load up to 120 book blocks into the BBL, and perform other tasks - such as packing books that have just been produced - while the BB3102 operates unattended for up to 25 minutes.
The BB3102 offers the capability to use EVA/hot melt or PUR-C adhesive systems depending on the customers' needs.
Existing BB3002 customers will be happy to know that they can upgrade their machine by retrofitting the Bourg Book Loader (BBL) to create the BB3102 and maximise their productivity (please contact a C.P. Bourg sales representative for feasibility).
The BB3102 makes it possible for publishers, commercials, in-plant printers and specialty binders to address today's often complex and unpredictable workflows with a versatile system that replaces the inconsistency of manually-guided medium and short-run book production with predictability and high productivity.
Not only does the BB3102 have a high production speed with up to 650 cycles per hour (400 books/hour), but the major advantage is that the operator can leave the system unattended for up to 25 minutes of non-stop production, while he/she focuses on other tasks. The machine runs at constant maximum speed and automatically adapts to the thickness of each job. The BB3102 processes various book thicknesses from 1 to 60 mm (0.04 to 2.36 in), and paper sizes from 100 x 100 mm (3.93 x 3.93 in) to 385 x 380 mm (15.15 x 14.96 in).
Depending on the job you need to perform, C.P. Bourg enables you to have the machine that responds to your needs. You can either produce the entire book in PUR or EVA/hot melt.
The PUR adhesive system is the most durable and flexible book binding glue available. It is ideal to produce softcover books, and on-demand full-color print materials such as photo books.
The EVA/hot melt adhesive is faster and cheaper than PUR but is less durable, less flexible. This is why the EVA/hot melt gluing system is ideal to produce on-demand handouts, medical prescription books and a wide variety of books for the best ROI.
Options to the BB3102 include connection to a trimmer CMT-130TC or CMT-330TC, and a fully integrated barcode solution that enables job tracking and job integrity check to maximize productivity and integrity. This is especially useful in “book runs of one” where matching cover to content is critical. A second optional barcode system enables automatic job set up for the CMT-330TC. It enables jobs to be cut to the right format without manual work.
Adding the barcode and trimmer options enables the BB3102 system to produce books – from book blocks to final, trimmed output stacked and ready for dispatch – entirely without operator intervention.
